Second Skin Instructions

Congratulations on your new Body Art! and Thank You for choosing Trainwreck Tattoo Studio.

Once your Tattoo is completed, your artist will bandage your tattoo with (Second Skin) for your trip home. Leave the bandage on for 12 hours.

After 12 hours, take the Second Skin bandage off, wash it with mild liquid antibacterial hand soap, no perfumed or exfoliating body washes). Pat it dry gently with a paper towel, then let the tattoo air dry the rest of the way (never scrub the tattoo with a towel or sponge).

Apply the new (second skin) dressing which you will leave on for 4-5 days.

After 4-5 days, remove the bandage and wash thoroughly with antibacterial, unscented liquid soap. After patting dry, apply a (Dye Free), white unscented lotion to the tattoo. Continue to moisturize twice daily at least until the skin has returned to its pre-tattoo condition. Usually takes 4-6 weeks .

Plastic Wrap Instructions

Leave on plastic wrap on for maximum of 2-3 hours.

Wash tattoo with warm water to remove oozing, make sure there is no build up of any plasma. Use anti-bacterial non fragrant soap when washing/cleaning tattoo and rinse thoroughly. Pat tattoo dry and apply a thin layer of aquaphor for 2 to 3 times a day, for a week to 10 days as needed.

As soon as tattoo starts itching and going into flaking stage, switch to a non fragrant moisturizer and apply twice a day.

No bathing, no swimming, no sun exposure , and less exercise for at least 2 weeks.

Do not itch and do not peel off dead skin, let it fall off naturally.

Tattoo should be healed in 3-4 weeks.

NOW THE DON'TS

DO NOT: Over-wash, Regular showering is fine.

DO NOT: Submerge the tattoo for an extended amount of time. DO NOT: Submerge the tattoo in water, This means baths, pools and oceans. Regular showering is fine.

DO NOT: Expose it to strong sunlight (Like outdoor activities or beach days. Walking to your car is fine!· Do not use anything on the tattoo other than what is previously recommended. Do not pick, peel, or scratch your new tattoo.· Do not under any circumstance use rubbing alcohol, peroxide, or cortisone on your new tattoo· Do not use sponges, washcloths, or anything abrasive while cleaning your tattoo. They harbor bacteria and may irritate or harm your tattoo. Do not let anyone touch your new tattoo Do not go in a lake pool, etc. These all contain bacteria. Do not expose your new tattoo to direct sunlight. This includes tanning beds. A high SPF sunscreen will protect the crispness/longevity of your tattoo in the future. Remember to keep your tattoo out of the sun for the first few weeks of healing. When the tattoo is completely healed apply a good SPF sunscreen on the tattoo to prevent fading.
